Pre-workout supplements have a wide range of effects, dosages, and ingredients. It can be hard to find a good pre-workout supplement that meets all your needs and give you that little extra boost of energy that can make a huge difference in your workout routine.
I’ve tried tons of products that only seem to be made with caffeine and fillers. While it gave me a boost, I also saw a huge crash at the end. And, I couldn’t be sure it was benefiting my body or helping with recovery.
With the right pre-workout supplement, I see a significant difference in my focus, endurance, power output, and fat loss. You need to make sure you find the right formula of amino acids and plant extracts as well as the correct dose of caffeine to promote blood flow and muscle growth as well as recovery post-workout.
Pre-workout supplements are known for the amount of caffeine they contain. And that’s not a bad thing. Caffeine easily affects pretty much every part of your workout since it acts as a stimulant as well as helps to boost your endurance, power, exertion, and cognition.
But pre-workout supplements aren’t just all about caffeine. They also include common ingredients like tyrosine, betaine, citrulline, and beta-alanine that also give you a boost to reach your workout goals. Beta-alanine itself is known for increased endurance and helps you to form carnosine, which has beneficial anti-aging effects.
Another ingredient, betaine, helps to increase your power as you work out, especially with squats. Typically, a pre-workout supplement also contains some plant ingredients that are also beneficial. It’s important to look for a well-dosed product that doesn’t use too many artificial ingredients to make sure it has the ability to improve your workout performance and allow you to reach your goals.
Full of a range of ingredients, Kaged Muscleis a popular choice among pre-workout options. A great all-around formula, it is high in creatine, betaine, citrulline, beta-alanine, and, of course, caffeine. Capable of supporting any type of workout, this is a great supplement when you need that extra boost.
With two types of tyrosine and a good amount of taurine, it gives you better focus. Plus, the branched-chain amino acids, which is an odd addition to a pre-workout formula, can make it easy to exercise when you have an empty stomach and help you to retain muscle.
Believe it or not, there are really vegetables that have been ground up to make the Kaged Muscle formula, which gives you a good dose of antioxidants that can lessen damage to your cells as you exercise. This is a very unique product that features a large number of ingredients as well as offers the largest serving sizes of any pre-workout supplement on the market.
Pre-Kaged is a pretty tasty formula that not only has a ton of ingredients that help to improve focus, endurance, power, and blood flow, but it also features a bunch of antioxidants to improve oxygen consumption. This is a well-dosed and transparent pre-workout that will even help you with recovery.
Pre-Kaged is well-dosed with the most popular pre-workout ingredients. It contains branched-chain amino acids to promote muscle retention along with powdered vegetables that provide important antioxidants. You get a pretty good pump and the compounding strength from the leucine and creatine.
With just one scoop, you get 15 calories and a ton of ingredients. In fact, it’s one of the most extensive lists of ingredients in a pre-workout on the market. While Kaged Muscle does include some artificial sweetness, it does not contain artificial flavorings or colors.

Customers have found that a dose of Kaged Muscle Pre-Kaged gives you all the important pre-workout elements and last your entire workout. The intensity can also help give your workout the boost it needs. Users loved the clean formula that is free of artificial and chemical additives that you find in other supplements. Not everyone sees benefits from Kaged Muscle Pre-Kaged, and some have found the taste a little hard to get accustomed to.
Great Preworkout/Not a great taste
“First of all I really like this preworkout. Im a 17 year old who enjoys going to the gym, I’ve been going to the gym for about 1 year. When I started I didn’t drink anything as a preworkout, but later I bought some amino acids and the problem was that they didnt have enough caffeine to wake me up, because I go to school, do homework and then go to the gym and doing all that get me tired and I want something that wakes me up. This product has 274 mg of caffeine which in my opinion is high, but I will only take this preworkout on my push days. The thing I dislike was the taste, I ordered fruit punch because it was cheaper than green apple, and it tasted like sh*t, its decent but keep in mind the price of this preworkout and I believe it only has 1g of sugar. All of the ingredients work well, and it gives me the boost I need. They should create an unflavored flavor or blueberry or something more simplier that taste better. They should also do a less strong preworkout for teenagers. In conclusion, I really liked my purchase.”
Product/Ingredient Disclosure is Important
“Been using the supplement for close to 1 yr. What I enjoy most about this product is the label disclosure. I feel more confident using this Pre-Workout, knowing the ingredients are shown as what they come from, and how. For example, the caffeine is labeled as coming from coffee beans, and not some synthetic material. Fermented products such as the BCAAs used are shown as coming from plants instead of more processed chemicals. Users of supplements should always research what is in the product they consume, and where each ingredient comes from. …“
Tastes great!
“Have been using the pre- and in-Kaged products for quite a while. Frankly, not sure if they do much for me. There are so many differences in people’s biochemistry and genetics, in terms of metabolizing the ingredients to these products, that I think it is impossible to predict how any particular individual will respond. I think it also depends upon your diet and what, if any, deficiencies you might have in it . I think this makes sense. That said, I do not think these things will “hurt” you. Mostly, I use this stuff to make sure that I drink 20 oz before training and at least 20 oz during training. Do I think this stuff will increase your lifts to Brain Shaw levels, absolutely NOT!! Might it help you, well, maybe. Is it worth the $$$$. That is an individual decision.”
Offering a clinically effective dose of ingredients, Transparent Labs Bulk doesn’t use artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors, and it’s gluten-free. It features a very manageable dose of caffeine at 180 mg per scoop along with a few ingredients that help to promote the natural production of testosterone. With good doses of zinc and Vitamin D, this formula also features boron, which is connected to an increase in testosterone production.
Promoting focus, endurance, and power, Transparent Labs BULK is a very effective product, although a little on the expensive side. It also has a great emphasis on its combination of tyrosine, theanine, and taurine. This is an all-natural supplement that has a bit of a sour taste.
A great choice for muscle pumps, Legion Pulse has a high dose of citrulline per serving. Linked to increased blood flow, this formula also increases nitric oxide production that gives you solid pumps. The high level of sodium in each dose also helps to draw water into your muscles.
Offering an effective and strong dose, Legion Pulse includes a two-scoop serving. This is a great choice if you don’t want a product with artificial ingredients. It also offers a large dose of citrulline, but watch out for a large amount of caffeine in each scoop.
With a very large amount of caffeine, Ronnie Coleman’s ‘Yeah Buddy’ has a super-strong formula that will give you the energy boost you crave. Featuring Dynamine and TeaCrine that gives you similar results to caffeine, they also dissipate more slowly to minimize your crash.
Some of Ronnie Coleman’s ‘Yeah Buddy’ includes Encapfeine that is basically caffeine that has been wrapped up in microbeads that have different thickness layers allowing it to slowly release during your workout. While not the best choice for those sensitive to caffeine, this formula is great for those that want the largest hit of caffeine they can get.
Pre-workout supplements can very helpful when you need to increase your energy levels and the effectiveness of your workout. Pre-Kaged is an excellent source of energy that also helps to improve your focus, endurance, and recovery. Make sure to give Pre-Kaged a try before your next workout and let us know in the comment section how it works for you.
